What a week!

OMG (as they say these days) what a week. It started off by sharing a dormatory with 49, 13 year old boys! We made them climb, ski, windsurf, sail, kayak and run around until they dropped but still they insisted on being awake and loud until stupid o clock. The most testing time however was trying to explain the method of changing in and out of a wet suit to a child with autism who could not see the logic in putting on a "wet"suit to go in the wet water, especially after he had done it all once that day and was now being asked to repeat the whole process again with an even "wetter" suit!! (the more I work with autistic children the more I can see their side of things, he's right, the world is wrong!) He also could not see the fun in staying up late and being loud and giggly when teachers knock on the door and shout "ssshhh" - I'm with him on that one too.
After a VERY brief two days off at the end of term I started packing for a Northern adventure... back to my roots, hills, dales, beer and fish and chips!! Two days in, and on a remote hillside with horizontal rain, pea soup mist and sheep for company when the southern softie car broke down (it was probably afraid and rightly so, I could have beaten it to a pulp with a stick.) "Oh ek" said the RAC man helpfully, "still could a bin worse." he couldn't however come up with a much worse scenario. "I can't fix that" he said helpfully. A short 5 hours later our broken car was on it's way back down south looking a lot happier and we were having a nice cup of tea in a garage on a scrap yard in Bradford... happy holidays!
Things have looked up considerably since then, shopping in the very civilised Leeds (we saved several hundred pounds on an eternity ring in the half price sale - bloody cheapscate husband) followed by fish, chips and mushy peas on our laps in front of t telly!

Lovely, Lovely camper

Let me tell you about my lovely, lovely camper. This is him in Ben's field in Cornwall with our lovely, lovely bunch of friends. He is sunshine yellow with sparkly paint that glitters when the sun shines (which is not very often). He smokes going down hills and chugs going up, smells of petrol fumes and lets in the rain ... and I we love him!
